The crime rate is relatively low compared to other cities of its size. Mentone is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County located about 25 miles outside San Bernardino. Yes, Mentone is considered a safe place to live. The a+ grade means the rate of crime is much lower than the average us city. Mentone is in the 95th percentile for safety, meaning 5% of cities are safer and 95% of cities are more dangerous. Mentone crime rates are 41% higher than the national average. Despite this, Mentone is still considered a relatively safe community with a lower crime rate compared to other areas in the United States.

GREEN SPOT MARKET- Known for its famous, delicious Beef Jerky

The Mentone Hotel was three stories, a basement and spacious veranda. It cost 20,000 dollars to build and was in the architectural style of the HOTEL DEL CORONADO. Electricity was available the day of the Grand Opening!! The hotel was widely advertised in the July 6, 1897 of the
San Bernaridno Times-Index,
Unfortunately, built too late for the boom of the 1880's, it started having financial difficulties. It was converted to a sanitorium for tubercular and asthmatic patients. Many came from the East for their health and sunshine in Mentone. The sanitorium changed hand several times and sadly, acutally tragically, the hotel was torn down in 1917.

Come see what Mentone has to offer in terms of living, whether you are looking for that forever home, condo, or simply looking for an apartment.  Mentone has many areas in our small community that are affordable and close to retail shopping in the Mountain Grove and Citrus Plazas. We have several bus stops that will take you to Redlands, Yucaipa or San Bernardino.
Sun Chase HOA
The Sun Chase Community is a suburban neighborhood located in Mentone. These homes are single family homes built from 1987-2020. Surrounding streets include Nice Ave, Agate Ave, Colton Ave, and Beryl Ave.

These homes are located within the Redlands School District and close to the Citrus and Mountain Grove shopping centers.

Hiking / Biking
Mentone has several trails including:

Mentone Loop that is great for hiking or biking with friends or family.

Morton Peak Fire Lookout located at 34800 Morton Ridge Trail in Mentone

Crafton Hills Open Space Preserve located at 33787 Crafton Hills Ridge Trail

Zanja Peak located at Zanja Peak Dump Trail in Mentone and there is a Zanja
Peak trail off of Oak Glen Rd in Yucaipa. -

Mentone Beach
This is a small creek that runs from Big Bear down to Mill Creek and then through Mentone on the South side of the Hwy 38, then crosses over to the North side. You can park your vehicle approximately 1-2 miles east of Bryant Street and walk down to the creek. Please note, when leaving pick up your trash. These areas are small gems that we all want to enjoy for years to come.
